I have always had a strong passion and love for filming and editing. When I was 10 years old I picked up my first camera and loved it, but when I was introduced to video cameras at the age of 13 I realized that this is something I want to do and I want to make a career out of it. I continued tinkering and playing with video cameras, which lead me to entering a video competition in 2010 in which I ended up winning and realizing that this is a career I can actually pursue.
P Plater Mods was my first full time filming gig, it was spawned from the competition that I won in 2010. It is a joint venture between myself an two friends. It is a quite successful home grown Youtube channel that is based around informative automotive DIY maintenance videos that are aimed at a young drivers. The channel has so far reached 15,500 subscribers and a total of 1.5 million views across all videos.
After seeing some success and notoriety from P Plater Mods, I was contacted by Downshiftaus.com, a quite large Australian based Automotive Blog, to start producing videos for them. Once on board with them, my love and knowledge of filming and editing grew exponentially, as I was no longer restricted to a formula like I was with P Plater Mods. I was given free reign to do what I liked, this allowed my talent and skills to grow much faster. Having been given access to some of Australia's most well known, famous and expensive cars to shoot and letting people experience them through my videos has shown me that what I do is a passion, not just a hobby or a job.
Through my productions with Downshiftaus, I have been contacted by various corporate entities to film promotional experiences to present to their clients. These range from white collar industries, to nightclubs, travel documentaries and more. This has given my filming career the scope it needs to help me learn and grow, allowing me to experience and learn how to film under any circumstance.
I live and breath what I do and I reflect this with the quality of videos that I produce. Second rate is not good enough, and in a saturated industry, you have to raise the 'bar' in quality to stand out,
My name is Jordan Barr and welcome to Above The Barr Videography.
